University of Sudbury Board of Regents welcomes new member

The University of Sudbury is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Marleau to its Board of Regents.

 A Collège du Sacré-Coeur (University of Sudbury) alumnus, Mr. Marleau has a background in accounting, business and politics. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in French and in Latin at the University of Ottawa in 1961, and a Bachelor of Commerce at the same institution in 1962. He also obtained his designation and license as a Chartered Accountant at Queen’s University in 1966.

For over 50 years, he has contributed to the success of many local companies, and has dedicated his professional career to building businesses and strong communities in Northern Ontario. He is currently the Chair of the St Joseph’s Health Centre Board of Directors, of which he has been a member since 2015. He is also a Political Consultant, having advised and helped raise funds for several political candidates since 1993, including the successful Sudbury Federal Liberal Candidate Paul Lefebvre in 2015, and Mayor John Rodriguez between 2006 and 2013.

Amongst numerous other involvements, he has been Chair of the Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc. Board, from 2001-2004, and Treasurer of the same Board from 2000-2001; Coordinator for the study of One-Tier Government, for the Regional Municipality of Sudbury from 1995-1997; Vice-President and Treasurer of Northern Cable Services Ltd from 1976-1991; Vice-President and CEO of Mid Canada Television Ltd, and President of Mid Canada Radio Ltd from 1980-1986; Manager, Supervisor and Partner of Thorne Riddell (now KPMG) between the years of 1966-1976; and has been a member of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Fundraising Committee for the Place des Arts, and involved in many other committees and associations in the community.
