The Science of Happiness with Meik Wiking
On Thursday, October 24th, 2019, the University of Sudbury had the pleasure of hosting Meik Wiking, the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Denmark, for a special talk on The Science of Happiness, at the Sheridan Auditorium of Sudbury Secondary School.
An enthusiastic crowd gathered to hear Meik share his research findings and insight about happiness and well-being. Topics such as converting wealth into happiness, the secrets of the world’s happiest people, and the importance of contributing to our societal structures to ensure conditions and policies that foster happiness were touched upon. It was an evening filled with everyday ideas, big ideas, statistics, and engaging discussions.
Meik is a well-known speaker - having done TEDx and Google Talks amongst others - and a New York Times best-selling author. His books have been translated into more than 35 languages, and over 1 million copies have been sold worldwide. His most recent book, The Art of Making Memories, was just published last month.
The University of Sudbury was thrilled to be able to welcome Meik to Northern Ontario, and to Sudbury! The topic was a natural fit for us, a University which offers programs in the humanities that encourage students to care about issues affecting our society, to be engaged, and to make a difference. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a success and thank you to Meik Wiking for delivering such an interesting presentation. For more events photos, visit our Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/usudbury/
