Historic “Hill Carney” Adds a Charity Fun Boot Hockey Game
The historic Hill Carney is a University of Sudbury student-led initiative dating back to the 1970’s and continues to be the highlight of winter for many students. Hill Carney refers to “the carnival on top of the hill”, as the UofS is located on the hill of the shared Laurentian Federation campus, along with Huntington and Thorneloe, two other members of the Federation. This weekend-long event features a boot hockey tournament, and is an opportunity for the “Hill Kids” - the residents of the Thorneloe, Huntington and UofS residences - to get together and celebrate the beginning of a new year.
This year, a Charity Fun Game is being included within the carnival festivities organized by the University of Sudbury Residence Student Council. Professors, staff and alumni are invited to take part in the Friday boot hockey game by donating $5. All funds collected will be donated to a local charity.
Those interested in registering to play must contact Jacob Lessard (email@example.com) before Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020.
Spectators are welcome!
Note that the Student Council does have a limited number of hockey sticks and helmets that they may be able to provide for individuals who do not own any.
